SAT 06.01  PANEL:  SKINS: LIMINAL BOUNDARIES

Skin can be physical or invisible. It is a membrane, or a space through which artists choose to perform. It can be a safe space, or it can become a liminal boundary to inhabit another world should artists choose to push beyond it. This panel seeks to discuss the different forms that a skin can take, how an artist uses it and to what means.

SUN 06.02 PANEL:   PERFORMANCE AND PEDAGOGY

Artists deal with knowledge sharing and communities through different modes. They inhabit characters, provide services to their audiences, or creatively isolate issues impacting our everyday lives. This discussion is based on the ideas behind the work of artists who speak to or about communities, delegate their performance, or share a sense of ethos with their audience.

SAT 06.08 PANEL:  AUDIENCE TRANSFORMATIONS

For some artists, material is a performative collaborator. It can be a substance that also changes through the process of a live work, during which the audience may also transform, slowly or by being shocked. We seek to discuss these different relationships between material, audience, and artist as they undergo a type of alchemy during a performance.

SUN 06.09:  PANEL: OPEN ENDED

‘Process’ in performance can take on the shape of a ritual, an obsessive repetition of actions, or a simple ebb and flow that is at times unpredictable. This discussion takes into account performance artists whose process operates along natural time, or structured sequences. What needs to be in place for this process to become repetitive or open? How do new and unpredictable actions get factored into performative situations when time is the collaborator?
