Combining feats of butchery art with the spectacle of lingerie-clad women in heels, the Burlesque Butcher and assistants will break down a slaughtered lamb in the Electrode windows. Audience participants will have the opportunity to receive gifts of meat at the conclusion of the performance.
Anna Felicity Friedman (US) is an interdisciplinary scholar, college professor, curator, and artist who has focused on areas of research often neglected by traditional academics. She finds fascinating (in no particular order) tattooing and myriad other body arts, contemporary performance art, the history of rare books, and sustainable agriculture and ethical animal husbandry. The Burlesque Butcher, explores the interplay between masculinity/femininity and food/sex. She feels that parody, humor, and a lack of clothing can empower and critique. Her events range from relational-aesthetics dinner parties to demonstrations to more formal “proper” performances.
